Our first topic for Year 2 is Toys.
At the moment we are learning about the history of toys. So far, we have compared old and new toys and worked out ways to tell if a toy is old. We then got the chance to visit the Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green to explore old toys. We were really lucky to see many old toys; one toy was even 150 years old! After comparing and exploring old toys, we got to make our own 'old' toy. We used wooden pegs, rubber bands and fabric to make them. Look at our pictures; can you make your own toy at home? Parents: be sure to check out the Museum of Childhood. It has lots of fun activities for you and your children to enjoy! This half term, Year 2's topic is all about Toys!
We will be learning about old and new toys and thinking about some of the toys our grandparents and parents played with. We will also be designing our own toy in DT. To start off with though, we decided to bring in and share our own favourite toys. We explained why we liked our toys so much and even got to show others how we play with our toy.
