As part of our DT topic, Year 5 are designing and making their own mini aprons. Once we have prepared our designs, we will be learning some sewing techniques. Watch this space to see or final products!
Year 5 visited the Half Moon Theatre to watch a play called 'Emily Rising', which was a puppet show performed by the Little Angle Company. We also had a chance to participate in some drama games and to take a look at an art exhibition.
Year 5 were working with Sara Heywood, an artist from Bow Arts on a whole school drawing and mark-making project. The theme of the project is 'sustainable futures' and it focuses on the important role bees have in our eco system. We learnt about the lives of bees and throughout the day, experimented with a range of mediums, including various types of pens, charcoal and ink. You will be able to admire the amazing art work we created in our 'William Davis gallery' display later this month!
In art, we took a closer look at Anglo-Saxon dwellings. We then experimented with line drawings and designed sculptures 'with a personality', based on this
Y5 visited the Museum of London to find out more about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, as part of their 'Invaders and Settlers' topic.. After the workshop, we went on a museum trail to investigate artifacts and their origins and to find out more about life during Saxon and Viking times.
