This week in Reception we have been focusing on 'Caring', which is one of our school values. Children have been thinking about friendship and what makes a good friend. As part of our focus we have added a 'Thank you tree' in our classroom. The children have been busy writing special messages to their friends and enjoyed displaying their messages on the tree.
We've been learning about healthy living this week. We talked about which foods are good for us. We had a look at some passion fruit, an avocado, kiwis, celery and pepper. We talked about how they look and feel. Then we used our fine motor skills to chop some of the fruit, before tasting them.
After finding a snail in the classroom, we decided to make a house for the snail to live in. We found out about where snails like to live and we learned some new words along the way too like 'stones', 'soil' and 'natural'.
Lots of children have been very busy fire fighters this week and extending their language in the process
One of our focus children this week wanted to make ice lollies, so we poured fruit juice and water into lolly moulds. We made some predictions about what would happen when we put them in the freezer and when we got them out, we explored what happened to the juice in the freezer.
Our focus child this week told us that she likes cooking with bananas, so we all made banana bread together. We enjoyed mashing the bananas and mixing them with the other ingredients
