In history, Year 2 have been exploring the history of our local area. We visited the
Ragged School Museum, which was the site of Thomas Barnardo's Ragged School during the 1800s. We took part in a Victorian school lesson, taught by the very strict Miss Perkins! Year 1 have been learning out the seasons so we observed and recorded the weather of autumn. We made wind indicators, which told us it was a windy day! We also recorded the temperature, using a thermometer.
We used inspiration from Where the Wild Things Are to create our own fantasy story setting, featuring flying cars, green skies and fire as hot as lava!
After reading the story of the Gingerbread Man, Year 1 made their own gingerbread men. Luckily none of them escaped from the oven! We then went on to perform a cookery demonstration and write a recipe.
Year 1 have been learning about old and new, in History. We went for a walk around our local area to spot some old and new buildings. Can you guess which buildings are old and which ones are new? How can you tell?
Year one have been learning about the five senses in science. We explored our sense of smell by guessing what different scents were.
Year One made puppets for the characters in the story of The Gingerbread Man. We then performed a puppet show, using loud, clear voices.
Eliza enjoyed using playdough to make models and re-enact Incy Wincy Spider. She also enjoyed painting pictures of spiders and other mini beasts.
