Music
At William Davis we provide a number of opportunities for children to express themselves musically from the beginning of their education in the Early Years right through to Year 6.
Children in Y1,2 and 3 have a weekly music lesson delivered by the class teacher following the ‘Music Express’ scheme, that covers the National Curriculum Programme of Study.
Children in Y4, 5, and 6 take part in an instrumental lesson delivered by a specialist music teacher where they will learn to play a specific musical instrument and begin to read music in notation form. In Year 4 all children learn to play the recorder. In Years 5 and 6 children can learn to play the saxophone or clarinet.
Children in Years 1 to 6 attend a weekly music assembly where they learn to sing familiar songs as well as learning new songs linked to national events such as the Harvest Festival and Christmas.
