At William Davis we provide a number of opportunities for children to express themselves musically from the beginning of their education in the Early Years right through to Year 6.
Early Years Foundation Stage use music as a tool to engage children in learning during carpet sessions. Children use songs to learn maths subject knowledge such as counting and shape names as well as songs linked to half termly topics. Reception children learn to play untuned percussion in the music room and both Nursery and Reception have access to instruments during their ‘Get Busy’ time in class. Key Stage One children have a weekly music lesson delivered by the class teacher following a medium term plan that covers the National Curriculum Programme of Study. |

Key Stage Two children either have a weekly music lesson delivered by the class teacher or they will take part in an instrumental lesson delivered by a specialist music teacher where they will learn to play a specific musical instrument and begin to read music in notation form.
Children in Years 1 to 6 attend a weekly music assembly where they learn to sing familiar songs as well as learning new songs linked to national events such as the Harvest Festival and Christmas.
William Davis offers places to Key Stage Two children to learn the violin, saxophone or clarinet. These are run as lunch time or after school clubs.
