Year 4 began creating a plasticine painting on mount board with the theme of rainforests.
We had to warm the plasticine in our hands and then use tools to smooth out, carve and create the patterns and shapes we needed. We had to be very patient as it was a long process to fill out our whole mount board! Year 4 have been working hard learning to play the recorder this term. We performed ‘Ready Steady G’ on our recorders.
We also sang the ‘12 days of Christmas’ for the Christmas show. Year 3, 4 and 6 took part in a workshop all about invertebrates. We found out why invertebrates are important to the environment and the food chain. We also found out why some invertebrates are endangered or have become extinct.
We then made ‘seed balls’ which can be planted to help improve the environment. The workshop ended with a quiz about everything we had learnt. We were lucky enough to be part of the Steve McQueen Year 3 exhibition at the Tate Britain.
Our picture was taken when we were in Year 3. There were hundreds of other year 3 class photos so we were very excited when we found ours! We have been exploring push and pull factors for different regions in Brazil. We looked at different rural and urban areas in Brazil and had to decide which factors may be pushing or pulling people to/from an area.
We made string telephones to investigate how sound travels through air and string. The vibrations traveled through the string to our partners.
We carried out group presentations on the ‘Roman way of life’.
Each person in the group was given a different role. We were very lucky to work with Bow arts on a special project about bees.
We started by looking at different ways of mark making and creating texture in our artwork. We also used acetate to trace over each other’s faces. In the afternoon, we used all the skills we had learnt to create drawings of bees and the environments they live in. Look out for our work on display! |
