Zacharia made a very impressive diorama of an ocean habitat. Which animals do you think might live in this habitat?
He also took the time to do an art lesson with author and illustrator Rob Biddulph and the results are fantastic. You can too if you visit http://www.robbiddulph.com/draw-with-rob
Well done Zacharia!
Just before the half-term break, William Davis had their PSHE Day.
Our focus was on online safety. In Year 2 we did a whole range of activities about how to be safe online, as well as what information we can and can't share online.
Here are some photos of one of the activities. We had to list some of the things we enjoy doing online. We then talked about what sort of information we can share while doing these things.
For our topic on Islands, we took time to think about and discover how islands are formed.
We found out that some islands form because of the ocean getting deeper and deeper. Some volcanoes also form due to volcanoes.
We then decided, for a bit of fun, to make our own volcanoes! Have a look at our pictures. Could you try it at home?
In Year 2 for Spring 1, we are exploring 'Islands'.
To start our unit, we decided to draw a map of what we think an island might look like. We also labelled the human and natural features of an island.
The next day we read 'Katie Morag and the Two Grandmothers'. It is a fantastic book set on an island in Scotland. We used the book to help us more features that we did not think of at first.
Keep an eye on this blog page... We'll be looking at how islands are formed soon and we have some very exciting lessons planned!
For the past few DT lessons, we have been thinking about designing a healthy fruit dish.
We decided to make a healthy fruit cup with yoghurt, bananas, raspberries, apples and blueberries.
We spent time planning, cutting and making our fruit.
Have a look at the pictures. What fruits can you see? Would you like to eat them?
At William Davis we have been very lucky this term as we have had the opportunity to work with Bow Arts on a special project. We have been looking at mark making and drawing.
Our theme was centred around bees.
Have a look at our beautiful artwork. Can you bee-lieve how hard we worked? We were also very well bee-haved and listened carefully to all instructions.
What are we using? What different techniques can you see?
