We have been writing our own version of the story called 'The Disgusting Sandwich'.
We had a go at improving Andrew's work by using a checklist to help us. We helped make Andrew's writing even more exciting by adding in things such as adverbials and suffixes. We finished our park story maps and, using sequencing language, we retold the story of the disgusting sandwich's journey! Keep your eyes on this blog to see what happens next!
We have started to learn about the Great Fire of London, which destroyed much of London 350 years ago.
We explored what homes were made from all those years ago. We found out they were made from wood, straw and tar, which are all very flammable. We also found out that London was very dirty and living conditions were very cramped. So then we decided to create our own houses from the time! Have a look at our amazing efforts! For science this term, Year 2 are exploring materials and their uses. We have been looking how we use materials and their properties.
Today we decided to conduct a fair test to see which materials are water proof and which are not. We will use this information to make our own nappy next week! We tested paper, cling wrap, kitchen towel, plastic and foil. Which do you think was the most waterproof? Year 2 have started our Rock Star time tables journey!
Here are pictures of us working hard on our 10 time tables. As part of our topic of Toys, Year 1 made their own wind up incy wincy spider toy. We use cardboard tubes and string to make the winding mechanism and we also added a wooden doweling handle.
We have been making our own moving toy in DT.
Look at these photos of us making the spider part of our toy, which we will make move with a winding mechanism. Year 1 worked really hard today creating their 'settings' for their very own Traction Man mission that takes place at William Davis! They used drawing materials and collage materials to create their amazing scenes.
Can you guess where their stories are taking place? In History, we are learning about what toys were like in the past. We visited the Museum of Childhood and found some old and new toys. We thought about how we knew some toys were from the past. We also thought about the materials the toys were made from, which helped us with our Science topic. We had a great time and we even managed to play with some toys too!
In RE, Year 1 are learning about Christianity so we went to St Matthew's Church. We met the priest, Erin, and she kindly showed us around the church. Everyone thought of a question they wanted to ask Erin and we listened really carefully to her answers.
